Report and manual for networking integration

The wider objective of the project "Assisting humans with special needs: Curriculum for HUman-TOol interaction Network (HUTON)" is the development of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary curriculum with the laboratory educational support and THE EDUCATIONAL TRAINING NETWORK for the optimized use of technology that improves the quality of life of humans with special needs.

Time: October 15th 2013.

In the third phase of the WP.1 workpackage demonstration and training center IT support has been formed. Installed IT equepment is responsible for enabling Web teaching activities such as course design, production practice, and cognition, confirmation and experiment of service design, etc..

Deliverable report – Deliverable 1.3

Time: January 15th 2014.

According to project work plan this deliverable is the first action of the WP1:
Development and maintenance of the network core and structure for support of the new curriculum.
In order to ensure and provide the technical prerequisites for the use of new Web based techniques, review of the existing technical and IT capacity has been completed. All existing laboratories are visited, analyzed and discussed with project partners and their technical personnel. Existing IT inventory and final network structure are deliverable 1.3 results.

In the fifth phase of the WP.1 workpackage new Web training service has been developed. It enables Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) for all project partners, students and university professors.
All services are installed on demonstration center IT infrastructure.

According to project work plan this deliverable is the first action of the WP2:
Design of new courses and restructuring of existing courses with supporting teaching materials.
Expert review of the existing courses held either in Serbia or EU has been performed.

The WP2 initial activity was the review of existing courses which could be deployed in the new syllabus, but with the emphasis on the parallel development of new courses.The success of the works in the WP 2 is that the review led to the selection of courses that will form the core and set of elective courses

The focus was on the courses which encircle practical knowledge and applicable skills. The specific action, harmonized with the activities in the WP 3, was to maximize the hands on approach and optimize the use of the instrumentation and equipment that will be purchased..

Deliverable report – Deliverable 3.1

Time: April 15th 2013.

According to project work plan this deliverable is the first action of the WP3:
Development of the Laboratory facilities that supports the new curriculum.
The WP3 plan addresses the planning, purchasing and setup of the laboratory instrumentation in the clinical partners and their university partner in Belgrade, Novi Sad and Novi Pazar. The instrumentation that is planned for HUTON needs to be the basis for the laboratory education within the courses. In parallel, the value of the instrumentation will be seen in its future exploitation by the trained professionals who receive the appropriate education through the curriculum after the program is finished.

Deliverable report – Deliverable 3.3

Time: December 15th 2014.

The staff training planned in HUTON ensures the required high skills profile assistance for the
optimal use of the laboratory instrumentation. The new instrumentation was planned with the
aim to integrate it into the available equipment of the participant institutions. The plan was made
to allow the implementation of the curriculum, and all instruments are to be used as part of at
least one course within the new curriculum. The planning was considering the expertise of EU
partners in the project, and the principles of good practice in medicine. The instrumentation
planning considered modern trends of the inclusion of tele-medical applications in cases where
this was feasible.

Deliverable report – Deliverable 4.1

Time: Januar 15th 2016.

This deliverable is the first action of the WP4: Implementing of new curriculum.
The first phase of the activities that led to this Deliverable was the Accrediting of new study programs.
The prepared study programs, with complete necessary documentation on teaching staff, available facilities
and equipment were approved by the Commission for Accreditation and Quality Control of Republic of Serbia.
The process was tedious since the partners (University of Belgrade, University of Novi Sad and State University of Novi Pazar)
have different organizational structures and somewhat different rules of studies, which has caused prolongation of the deadline.

Deliverable report – Deliverable 4.2

Time: October 15th 2016.

The second phase of the activities that led to this Deliverable was the Teaching of new study programs.
The accredited one-year program was offered to students with 240 credits at all three partner universities for the school year 2016-2017.
The test and meetings with prospective candidates led to the first generation enrolled in the program “Mechatronics for Medical Rehabilitation”,
which is the outcome of the HUTON project.

Deliverable report – Deliverable 4.3

Time: October 15th 2016.

The third phase of the activities that led to this Deliverable was the Developing of practical placement strategy.
Serbia is in the process of changing the Law that regulates higher education, law that regulates research and science work,
and law that regulates employment. The employment law changes the present situation and will include a detailed list of jobs and qualifications.
Negotiations with stakeholders for the placement of the graduates are finished, and the new law will include the degree
that is received after the graduation “Mechatronics in Medical Rehabilitation” in the list.

Deliverable report – Deliverable 5.1

Time: November 2015., updated: October 2016.

The management board formed the Quality control team which includes experts in the domain of teaching field rehabilitation engineering. The team was following the development of the HUTON program from the very beginning, but the Deliverable relates to the outcomes as suggested in the proposal.
